Playlists for Classical Discoveries Goes Avant-Garde with Marvin Rosen from 2001 - 2006

Friday, December 29, 2006 - 11:00 AM to 8:00PM
FELDMANATHON / FLUX O-MANIA

Complete Broadcast of MORTON FELDMAN'S - String Quartet No. 2 (6 hours 7 minutes 7 seconds duration)
as performed by the Flux Quartet

When I decided to cover an extra 9 hours of programming during holiday break, I knew that most of that time would be used to air Morton Feldman's String Quartet No. 2 (a work I have wanted to air for quite some time) and that the remainder of the program would be devoted to other Contemporary American composers.
It just so happened thatTom Chiu, the founder and 1st violinist of Flux, as well as composer, was able to visit the WPRB studio at the end of the Feldman and stay for the remainder of the program. That was great opportunity to discuss at length Feldman's String Quartet No. 2, as well as other repertoire of the group, turning this program into aFlux Quartet Marathon.
