| SPECIAL GUEST OF CLASSICAL DISCOVERIES - WEDNESDAY JANUARY 11 2012 |
| Wednesday, between 10:00am and 12:30pm young Polish composer Jakub Ciupiński (1981- ) aka Żak will be guest in WPRB studio.
Diversified and fascinating composer who writes in all styles from pop/world music (under the name Żak) to electronic, computer, and large orchestral works. He built the system out of two theremins and laptop with his own software, to perform live electronic music. Although his music is often associated with electronics and interactive performances, he has written numerous pieces for traditional acoustic forces, varying in scope from solo miniatures to an hour long Oratorio for symphony orchestra and double choir. Jakub Ciupiński’s concert music has been commissioned by various institutions and ensembles including Metropolis Ensemble, The New Juilliard Ensemble, The New York City Ballet's Choreographic Institute, as well as the world-famous violinist Anne Akiko-Meyers. |
